JERRY DEMINGS CENTER FOR RECOVERY AND REENTRY HOSTS COMMUNITY HEALTH AND WELLNESS EVENT
ORLANDO, FL, SEPTEMBER 28, 2021 – Bridges International’s Jerry Demings Center for Recovery and Re-entry invites everyone to its Community Health and Wellness Celebration on October 29 from 1 to 4 p.m. at Orlo Vista Park in Orlando. This family-friendly event will feature food, music, games and refreshments. Local vendors and non-profit organizations will be on-site to provide COVID-19 testing and vaccinations and offer resources which promote health and wellness activities.
“We’re excited to invite the community to a free event with games, food and lots of great information on how to stay healthy and well,” said Program Director Dr. Kelly Lill. In October 2018 the Jerry Demings Center for Recovery and Re-Entry, also known as The Portal, was established. The outpatient facility located on Silver Star Road in Orlando, Florida was established to help reduce the impact of opioids in the community and support criminal justice-involved individuals with comprehensive therapeutic services.
“Our qualified staff here at The Portal give our clients access to substance abuse treatment, mental health counseling and case management to aid in their successful reintegration with their families and their communities,” said Program Director Dr. Kelly Lill. “We also have amazing partners that also help us help them with housing, clothing, employment, identification and more. It takes the whole community to make sure everyone maintains a healthy lifestyle and lives well physically, mentally and emotionally.”
