The Things We Do For Our Kids

It's really awesome when you get to see pure excitement and enjoyment in your kid... For me, that's what going to WrestleMania was all about...

My son is a huge Wrestling fan... I totally get it because I was also a fan at his age... I have taken him to more than one event at Amway... full disclosure... I didn't always have to pay for tickets... But WrestleMania is different... No free tickets to that one... and from the day it was announced in Orlando, he let me know that was on his "Bucket List"... Ummmmm... he's 12... pretty much everything is on his bucket list at this point?!

I didn't get to check a lot off my personal 12 year old bucket list... so I try my best to fill the kid's requests... I mean, he's a great kid... There are times I totally want to to just lay on the couch... just watch TV... but I remember not really having a dad to want to hang out with... and I remind myself how lucky I am that my son actually chooses to hang out with me... So when tickets to WrestleMania went on sale, there I was, in front of my computer... credit card in hand...

I scored really good seats... at a really high price... but it's on his bucket list so... The tickets made his Christmas... so that was a win... they also provided something pretty cool for him to look forward to... and watching his excitement build was pretty cool. So far the money spent was starting to pay off...

Sunday came, and he was ready... we turned it into an all day thing... met some friends with kids his age and had lunch... we headed over to the stadium early... and we took it all in... I did get some good people watching in... and that's really all I hoped for from the night... That and spending some time with the kid... We went to our seats and we watched... and joked... and had a great time... if the night ended there I would have been happy... But then my son's favorite all-time wrestler made a surprise return... and while to me that didn't mean much... to him it was an amazing moment... and for me it provided a moment that I will hold onto forever... the look of pure joy in his face... I can honestly say I didn't have one of those with my dad as a kid... and for about 45 seconds... my son exploded with excitement and happiness... and I made it happen for him... and I got to watch it... and even better... I caught it on video.
