Labor Department: Fewer Than 24K Jobless Claims In Florida Last Week

Even with coronavirus cases on the rise and a slower-than-typical holiday season, Florida is seeing a slight decline in new unemployment claims.

According to the U.S. Department of Labor, there were just under 24,000 first-time jobless applications in Florida last week. That was down by less than 400 from the week before.

The estimate marks the sixth consecutive week of declines in new unemployment claims in Florida and the lowest weekly total since March, when COVID-19 began hitting the state and restrictions started to be imposed.
