Brad and Kim moved here from Wisconsin for Brad's new job. They have been here for over a year and they just found out earlier this week that Brad's new job is shutting down operation. They came out of the blue and it caught everyone off guard!!
THE SITUATION:
Brad lost his front office job this week when the company shut down and is thinking about his next move. In the last year, Kim found a company that she really enjoys working at and has already received two raises and a promotion. She really sees a future with this company! Brad has been offered a job doing the same thing he was doing but it's in a smaller market for less pay. He wants to take that job until the one he really wants opens up in a year or so. Brad has (off the record) been promised the job but he has to wait until it's open. The person who has the job now has a contract that will expire at the end of the next year. When Brad gets that job, they'll be set. This would be his dream job and he could take care of the family the way he always wanted to. Kim would only have to work if she wanted, but they would have to move to a very small town for a year and a half and make less money.
Kim doesn't think they should move. She has a job that she loves and thinks that one day she could make more than Brad. She doesn't want to move the kids again and thinks they should stay in Orlando. Brad is trying to explain that they may have to sacrifice for 18 months but after that, all the plans and dreams they have will come true. This is the plan that they have always had. The loss of the job here is just a temporary set back. Both Brad and Kim were on the same page. This is the first time Brad has heard that Kim wants to stay in Orlando. They both know the stay in Orlando would be for a short time just not this short. Brad has no job here and if he doesn't take the job in the small town, he won't be able to get the General Manager job he has wanted his whole career. He loves his wife and loves that she has a job she enjoys but this is all news to him and their life goal as a family.
