The Situation:
Jose left his email open, and Mary noticed that Jose has been having email dialogue with a new female coworker.
There is nothing in the email that leads you to believe that Jose has or will cheat. He actually talks about how much he loves his wife. The female coworker was saying how lucky he is to find the right person. She mentioned that she was single and it was hard on the dating scene. Jose told her to hang in there and the right one would come along.
After Mary read this, she was really upset. One reason was because he was having dialogue with a new female coworker and a lot of the conversation wasn't about work. The other reason was the conversation has been going on and off for two weeks.
Jose feels like he didn't do anything wrong. Just being nice to a new coworker. He's a team leader so he felt that he was getting to know his new teammate better.
Mary wants Jose to send the new team member an email and explain that they shouldn't continue with the email conversation. They should keep it strictly business and to talk in person or in meetings in the office.
Jose said that there is no need for this because the emails have been strictly business except for the first couple of email. Since then, it's just business.
