Lauderhill, FL - A South Florida man was shot by two car burglars after firing a warning shot at them in attempt to scare them off.

Lauderhill Police Maj. Mike Santiago says the victim was shot outside of his home on the 4800 block of Northwest 22nd Street just after 5 a.m. Tuesday morning.

Investigators say the man fired a warning shot to try and scare off the two car burglars, but the burglars returned fire and shot the vehicle's owner.

The victim's girlfriend tells CBS Miami “I looked outside and saw one guy running towards my neighbor’s there in a ski mask, then another guy with a drill spinning, trying to get into the van. Then he rushed out here and boom. Everything started happening."

The victim was grazed by a bullet and taken to Broward Health Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.

The suspects fled the scene and haven't been identified.

Police are asking anyone with information regarding Tuesday's shooting to call Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS.
