Pixar Releases New Trailer For 'Soul' Ahead of Disney+ Release

On Wednesday (October 14), Disney and Pixar gave fans an in-depth look at their upcoming feature film Soul. Unsurprisingly, the movie looks to be packed with same charm, humor and heart that have become hallmarks of Pixar films over the years.

Originally set to make its big screen debut in theaters this past June, Soul's theatrical release was initially pushed to November. Disney ultimately decided to release Soul on Disney+ instead due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

Unlike Disney's live-action remake of Mulan, which was also delayed and then released on Disney+ after theaters shut down, Soul will not cost subscribers an extra $30. The animated film will be available to subscribers at no extra cost. If you're not signed up yet and want to stream Soul when it hits the streaming platform on Christmas day, Disney+ costs $6.99 per month.

Here's the official synopsis for Pixar's Soul:

What is it that makes you...YOU? Joe Gardner (voice of Jamie Foxx) is a middle-school band teacher who gets the chance of a lifetime to play at the best jazz club in town. But one small misstep takes him from the streets of New York City to The Great Before – a fantastical place where new souls get their personalities, quirks and interests before they go to Earth. Determined to return to his life, Joe teams up with a precocious soul, 22 (voice of Tina Fey), who has never understood the appeal of the human experience. As Joe desperately tries to show 22 what’s great about living, he may just discover the answers to some of life’s most important questions.
