Take A Vacation!

It has been a long year and a half. I know everyone has been through some struggles. I've seen a lot of people say "we are all in the same boat..." which I disagree with. We are all in the same storm... some people are cruising through it in a much nicer boat than than others. We have been lucky enough in my little family to balance the good with the bad. We are fortunate that none of us were hit with COVID (I know I joke that I am immune, but knock on wood). Being honest, I was hit pretty hard financially, but my wife was able to make up for that with a busy year in real estate so we broke even there. Home schooling the kid was a beast for the first few months, but once he found his groove, he did really well. Overall, I can't complain... but to keep ourselves even, we had to run twice as hard. I feel like I have been grindin' since I was 15, but the last 18 months the grind has been intense! So we needed a break.

We started pulling some money aside and booked a trip to Mexico and stayed at the Majestic Elegance Costa Mujeres... 5 days of all inclusive paradise! It was the first time in maybe 10 years that we didn't travel with our laptops... No work was the rule. A few emails slipped through the first day, but after that I shut it down! The airline and airport staffs are struggling with the rush, but minus a few travel snags, it was just what we needed. We spent days in the pool sipping on frozen drinks... and passing out shots of our Yo-Ho Spiced Rum... we don't leave home without it... We ate and watched shows at night. We spent a day pretending we were on a cruise at Senor Frogs in Cancun... and we spent a day on a luxury boat floating in the ocean. We have done vacations before, but this one was so needed.

I understand that not everyone can pick up and go away for 5 days (back to that all in the same boat thing)... But if you have been running ragged the last 18 months, try to find a way to shut it all down for a few days... even just one day if that's all you can swing. The mess and stress will be there when you get back, but you will come back with a little more charge in the batteries.

Check out a few pics from my break!
