How Much Do Your Christmas Lights Add To Your Electric Bill?

If you go all out like Clark Grizwold... or if you do the bare minimum like me... It still costs money to run your holiday lights. So how much does your bill go up every season? KTLA in Los Angeles put together a formula to figure it out...

"A strand of 300 white mini LED lights on the typical green wire is 21 watts, while the same style with incandescent bulbs is 72 watts. Using the formula above with the national average of $0.14 per kilowatt-hour and a display season of six hours a day for 30 days, using a strand of mini LED lights will cost you about 52 cents. A strand with the same amount of bulbs, but as incandescents, will cost about $1.81..."

So obviously it depends on the number of strands you use... and if you've gone green and flipped to LED lights... but it really adds up! Click Here to check out the full story and see the formula they use.
