Davenport, FL - The Davenport Police Department is urging the public's assistance in locating a suspect wanted in connection with an attempted murder that occurred on Thursday afternoon.
According to police, officers responded to a call around 1:00 PM at a residence in the Highland Meadows neighborhood.
Upon arrival, they discovered the victim, 47-year-old Douglas Kidd's cousin, had sustained critical stab wounds.
The victim was transported to a local hospital and remains in critical condition.
Investigators believe Kidd attacked his cousin inside the home, inflicting over 15 stab wounds before fleeing the scene prior to police arrival.
"This was a brutal act of violence," said Davenport Police Chief Steve Parker. "Our top priority is apprehending this dangerous individual and ensuring he faces justice. In the meantime, we keep the victim in our thoughts and prayers for a full recovery."
The motive for the attack remains unknown at this time.
