Flags will be flown at half-staff on Saturday to honor Master Deputy Sheriff Bradley Link.
On Aug. 2, Link was fatally shot in the line of duty at 28 years old, leaving behind his wife and parents.
Lake County officials revealed that a 911 caller said 48-year-old Julie Sulpizio was assaulting people. When deputies entered the home to conduct a welfare check, a man believed to be Michael Sulpizio, the husband, fired a shot at Master Deputy Link.
The Sheriff's Office stormed the home to rescue Link, who was shot and trapped inside, when a person inside fired back at deputies. Three suspects were killed.
Master Deputy Link served with the Polk County Sheriff’s Office for two years and was a United States Army Reserves veteran before he joined the Lake County Sheriff’s Office.
