Robbery Suspect Makes Daring Escape By Jumping From Daytona Beach Bridge

Daytona Beach, FL - A Daytona Beach robbery suspect made a daring escape from police custody by jumping into the Halifax River before being apprehended.

Authorities say 32-year-old Richard Martinovics was spotted by Daytona Beach police officers while walking on a bridge around 7 a.m. on Thursday.

As officers approached him, Martinovics made a daring escape by leaping over the bridge's guardrail and plunging into the Halifax River below.

Body camera footage released by the police department captured the shocking moment. 

Officers on the scene immediately called for their marine unit to assist in the search and apprehension of the suspect. 

Martinovics was eventually located and taken into custody without further incident.
