Hurricane Helene's Insured Losses In Florida Surpass $500 Million

Tallahassee, FL - As claims continue to rise, estimated insured losses in Florida from Hurricane Helene have now exceeded $500 million.

According to data posted by the Florida Office of Insurance Regulation, as of Monday, insured losses had reached $507.5 million, up from $434.7 million reported the previous day.

A total of 48,341 claims have been filed so far, with 24,858 related to residential property damage.

Additional claims have been filed for damages to vehicles, commercial properties, and other assets.

The data also revealed that approximately 5% of the claims have been closed.

Of those, 1,329 claims were settled with payments to policyholders, while 1,234 were closed without payments.

Hurricane Helene, a Category 4 storm, made landfall late Thursday in Taylor County, causing significant damage along Florida’s Gulf Coast.

The storm also inflicted heavy damage in parts of North Florida before moving into Georgia and the Carolinas.
