Miami, FL - The Miami Dolphins' season has suffered another setback with the announcement that edge rusher Jaelan Phillips will require reconstructive knee surgery.
Phillips sustained the injury during the team's Monday night loss to the Tennessee Titans and was unable to return to the game.
The 25-year-old, a former first-round draft pick, had been a key contributor to the Dolphins' defense.
Last season, he recorded 43 tackles and 6.5 sacks before suffering a season-ending Achilles injury.
Phillips' injury adds to the Dolphins' growing list of setbacks this season.
The team is already dealing with injuries to starting quarterback Tua Tagovailoa and backup Skylar Thompson, leaving third-stringer Tyler Huntley as the primary option under center.
With a 1-3 record, the Dolphins face a crucial matchup against the New England Patriots in their next game.
