Woman Charged With Attempted Strangulation And Assault On Daughter

Sweetwater, FL - A Sweetwater mother is facing charges after allegedly attempting to choke and stab her daughter during a heated argument at their home on Monday afternoon.

According to police, the incident unfolded at approximately 2:15 p.m. in the 11000 block of Southwest Seventh Street.

The woman reportedly became enraged during a family dispute, initially throwing a cloth at her daughter before escalating the altercation by grabbing her by the neck and attempting to strangle her.

The situation further escalated when she allegedly retrieved a kitchen knife and charged at her daughter, who managed to fend off the attack by kicking her.

The victim later provided law enforcement with Ring camera footage capturing the altercation, which supported her account of the events.

The suspect was taken into custody at the scene and transported to the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center.

She now faces charges of domestic battery by strangulation and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

As of Wednesday, she remains in custody pending a bond hearing.
