Riviera Beach has a new mayor.
Former city Councilman Douglas Lawson has been chosen in a vote by the fellow members of the Council at a meeting last night.
Lawson was one of several candidates in the last election to be removed from the ballot after paying their filing fees with a debit card instead of a check.
It left no candidates for mayor, leaving the choice up to the Council. Lawson was one of twelve candidates to plead their case for five minutes in front of the Council and the public. But he was the only one nominated.
Lawson will serve through March of 2027.
