Broward Mosquito Control is conducting and aerial mission this weekend targeting a big batch of mosquitoes mostly attacking residents out west.

The mosquitoes all hatched at once after recent rains in the Everglades and were all blown into parts of Southwest Ranches, Davie, Pembroke Pines, and Weston, according to Mosquito Control Director Anh Ton.

The aerial missions will take place overnight from 2-6 a.m. Saturday through Monday.

According to the director of Broward Mosquito control, Anh Ton, "The aerial adulticide spraying will target nuisance mosquitoes that are not known to transmit diseases like Zika or dengue."

Residents can help eliminate mosquito breeding areas by dumping standing water around their homes.

Residents with breathing problems are advised to stay indoors. Ton says it is safe to walk your dog or go for a jog during the day because the adulticide breaks down quickly after it kills the insects.
