Florida's Minimum Wage Goes Up Today

Some workers getting a pay bump today as part of a voter-approved amendment to raise Florida's minimum wage to fifteen dollars by 2026. Economist Dr. Ken Johnson says on the plus side this should increase productivity among lower-paid workers. But on the downside, it could spike prices and local inflation. Under the amendment, the minimum wage went to ten dollars-an-hour in 2021, eleven bucks in 2022, twelve dollars in 2023, thirteen in 2024 and fourteen today. The federal minimum wage is seven-dollars-and-twenty-five-cents per hour.
