Miami, FL - A 53-year-old Miami man was arrested Monday after allegedly impersonating a police officer during a road rage incident in Westchester.

According to the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office arrest report, the suspect, identified as Erick Rodger Cerezo, allegedly began honking at a woman who had stopped at a stop sign to allow pedestrians to cross.

Deputies reported that Cerezo followed the woman to a nearby Publix supermarket at 8680 SW 24th Street and parked his vehicle behind hers, effectively boxing her in.

The woman and her passenger exited their car, and Cerezo allegedly pulled out his wallet and displayed a gold badge labeled “police officer” through the windshield, telling the driver “I am a cop.”

He reportedly showed the badge to the passenger as well.

Law enforcement later located Cerezo parked in front of a Walmart.

When questioned, he denied claiming to be a police officer.

Deputies found the fraudulent badge inside his wallet along with his driver’s license and health insurance card.

Cerezo was arrested and charged with falsely impersonating an officer, a third-degree felony under Florida law.

The charge carries potential penalties including up to five years in prison and a $5,000 fine.

As of Tuesday morning, he was being held at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center on a $2,500 bond.
