President Trump Welcomes Major League Soccer Champion Inter Miami To White House

(Washington D.C.) - Soccer star Lionel Messi and Inter Miami visited the White House Thursday to celebrate the team's MLS crown with President Trump.

"Today, we're thrilled to host the 2025 MLS Cup Champions, Inter Miami,” President Donald Trump said in his introduction. “And it's my distinct privilege to say what no American president has ever had the chance to say before: Welcome to the White House, Lionel Messi!"

The President touted Messi's accolades including winning the Golden Boot and becoming the first player to be named league MVP twice in a row.

Joining Messi at the White House were Luis Suarez, Tadeo Allende and Rodrigo De Paul. De Paul was singled out by Trump for (being handsome) and scoring a goal in the MLS Cup.

The President received a bedazzled pink soccer ball and #47 jersey from the team.

Inter Miami is on the road taking on DC United Saturday night.
