Accuweather: 'Super El Niño' Could Form During Hurricane Season

Forget El Niño, this hurricane season there's a chance a Super El Nino could form in October or November, and AccuWeather's lead hurricane expert Alex DaSilva says that's good news.

"El Niños typically overall do yield less tropical systems than non-El Niño years," said DaSilva.

He adds, warmer water temperatures in the equatorial Pacific lead to more wind shear in the Atlantic basin, which tend to rip apart tropical systems.

He is giving it a 15% chance of a Super El Nino developing after a regular El Nino forms in the mid-summer.

AccuWeather's hurricane forecast will be released next week.
