(Miami, FL) - South Florida hosts many real-world sporting events like the World Cup. As a result, the Local Emergency Planning Committee is conducting a large-scale emergency response to a simulated chemical drone attack at IMCF stadium in Broward Wednesday.

Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue spokesman Frank Guzman says participating agencies include local hazmat teams and the FBI. They will practice patient triage, mass decontamination and multi-agency communications.

The drill runs through the afternoon, and residents will see lots of law enforcement activity, but there is no threat to the public.

The Miami city commission is also expected to accept a $6.5 million grant from FEMA and the Department of Homeland Security Thursday to fund the FIFA World Cup emergency preparations and response initiative.
