Here's what's going on...
Charlie originally told Mary that he wouldn't be in town for Father's Day. So, her current husband made huge plans for the three of them. Theme Park, Dinner and stay at a Disney hotel. Her son is really looking forward to it.
Charlie just found out Sunday that his business trip is cancelled, and he'll be here for Father's Day. He told his son and he told Charlie that they have big plans already.
Charlie wants Mary to talk their son into coming with him on Father's Day. He is the child's Father, and he should be with his son for Father's Day. Legally he can make the child come with him
Mary feels that Charlie is gone so much that their son is used to him not being there and looking forward to hanging out with his stepfather. The stepfather is putting time in with the child.
Charlie and Mary are doing great co-parenting and Charlie doesn't understand why this big deal.
